Kawooya Alex is a seasoned professional accountant and a committed advocate for the bleeding disorders community in Uganda. With a strong foundation in financial management and strategic planning, he brings a high level of technical expertise and integrity to his professional endeavors. His career is marked by a meticulous approach to fiscal responsibility and a drive for operational excellence. Beyond his professional practice, Alex is a cornerstone of the volunteer network at the Haemophilia Foundation Uganda (HFU). He generously contributes his time and financial acumen to support the foundation’s mission, ensuring that resources are utilized effectively to improve the lives of those living with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders. His ability to bridge the gap between complex financial oversight and grassroots community support has made him an invaluable asset to the organization. Known for his reliability and altruistic spirit, Alex is dedicated to fostering sustainable growth within the non-profit sector. He believes that strong financial systems are the backbone of impactful advocacy.

Dr. Peter Wasswa

Dr. Peter Wasswa

Dr. Peter Wasswa is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center. He is currently the Medical Director for the Global HOPE Program in Malawi. His special interest is in childhood hematological cancer, particularly in developing countries. Having trained in Africa and Europe, Dr. Wasswa translates clinical best practices into actions that have a positive impact on children with cancer and blood disorders in Malawi. Additionally, he is very familiar with the challenges of adapting these best practices to the needs and realities of low-income settings. Dr. Wasswa received his medical degree from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. He completed his residency in pediatrics and his residency in internal medicine from the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health and the Royal College of Physicians, respectively. His Fellowship in hematology was completed at the Royal College of Pathologists.

Kobusingye Jane is a Retired Nurse, Midwife, and a dedicated advocate for the haemophilia community. As a grandmother of two children with severe Haemophilia A, she leverages her extensive medical background to mentor parents in "owning" their health through self-care and proactive management. Jane is a vital leader in community empowerment, ensuring that families have the confidence and skills to thrive despite the challenges of a chronic condition.
