
Professor Grace Ndeezi is a distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health at Makerere University with over 20 years of expertise in research, clinical practice, and medical education. She serves as the Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Board for the Haemophilia Association Uganda (HAU) and is a practicing clinician at Mulago National Referral Hospital. A prolific researcher, Professor Ndeezi has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and has successfully mentored more than 40 Master’s and four PhD students. Her extensive background includes leading Ministry of Health child health programs and collaborating with prestigious global institutions such as the Karolinska Institute and the University of Bergen. These partnerships have provided her with a profound understanding of global health disparities and health system strengthening in low-income settings. Professor Ndeezi is a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS), where she chairs the Finance and Administration Committee. She also chairs the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) Research and Ethics Committee and serves as a member of the Makerere University Senate, continuing to influence health policy and academic excellence in the region.

Dr Phillip Kasirye Gitta is a Consultant Paediatrician and Hematologist at Mulago National referral and teaching Hospital, the oldest and largest public health facility in Uganda. He wields over 15 years clinical experience and heads the hospitals sickle cell clinic where close to 30000 patients have been registered since its inception in 1968 and a yearly active population of over 5000 patients. Dr Kasirye also serves as the Assistant Clinical Head in charge of hematology at the hospital. He is a head of capacity building and research at hemophilia foundation of Uganda. medical committee. Other responsibilities include; participation in several community education campaigns for both hemophilia and Sickle cell disease, as well as training of health professionals in those and other aspects across the country. He is also an honorary Lecturer in the department of Paediatrics at the Makerere University college of health sciences training, supervising and mentoring medical students, interns, postgraduate students and fellows of hematology/oncology He is also keenly interested in clinical research and has been an active participant in that filed.

Dr. Deogratias Munube is a Consultant Paediatrician, Honorary Lecturer, and PhD candidate at Makerere University and Mulago National Referral Hospital. He serves as the Assistant Clinical Head of the Directorate and coordinates specialized medical training in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology. With 10 years of experience in neonatal and child health, Dr. Munube is an expert ETAT+ trainer and a leading researcher in sickle cell disease. His current doctoral work focuses on stroke in children with sickle cell anaemia as part of a national initiative to advance neurological leadership in Uganda.

Dr. Susan Nabadda Ndidde is a distinguished Medical Pathologist specializing in Hematology and a prominent leader in Uganda’s public health and laboratory medicine sectors. She serves as the Commissioner and Executive Director of the National Health Laboratory and Diagnostics Services (NHLDS) at the Ministry of Health, where she oversees the strategic strengthening of national laboratory systems. An expert in disease surveillance and laboratory practices, Dr. Nabadda has been instrumental in managing infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and emerging viral threats, as well as spearheading national efforts against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Her exceptional leadership was internationally recognized during Uganda’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond her national role, Dr. Nabadda serves as the Interim Chair of the Africa Laboratory Director's Forum (LabDF) in partnership with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). Her work continues to drive innovation and high-standard diagnostic services across the continent, ensuring resilient health systems for all.

Dr. Christine Sekaggya Wiltshire is an Internal Medicine Physician and PhD researcher at Makerere University. She is a leading investigator in clinical trials and pharmacokinetic studies, specializing in the management of non-malignant hematology and drug-drug interactions involving HIV and tuberculosis treatments. Her work is pivotal in advancing therapeutic outcomes for patients navigating complex co-morbidities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Annette Grace Nakalyango is a Specialist Physiotherapist with 16 years of experience in pediatric and adult musculoskeletal and neurological care. She is a Fellow in Haemophilia Physiotherapy and an expert in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). Combining her clinical roles with her work as a physiotherapy tutor, Annette is a key figure in improving functional outcomes and specialized rehabilitation for the haemophilia community in Uganda.

Nalubega Juliet is the Haemophilia Nurse at Mulago National Referral Hospital. A key member of the specialized haematology team, she oversees patient care, treatment administration, and clinical support for the national haemophilia community. Juliet is committed to improving patient outcomes through dedicated nursing care and empowering families with the knowledge to manage bleeding disorders effectively.

Christine Karungi is a Pharmacist at Mulago National Referral Hospital and a Master of Pharmacy candidate specializing in Clinical Pharmacy. Her professional interests lie in paediatric haematology and the advancement of specialized care for bleeding disorders. Christine is a key member of the multidisciplinary team, dedicated to enhancing treatment protocols and medication access for patients across Uganda.

Dr. Samuel Kasibante is a Medical Doctor and Biomedical Scientist at Mulago National Referral Hospital. Combining clinical expertise with a deep background in biomedical science, he contributes to the advancement of evidence-based medicine and diagnostic excellence in Uganda. Dr. Kasibante is a key collaborator in multidisciplinary health initiatives aimed at translating scientific research into impactful patient care.
